SEO Friendly Content Writing

There is not a big difference between content writing and seo content writing. SEO content writing is all about writing a content based on some targeted keywords on which a website will rank in the Search engine result page. A search engine optimized content should have the following criteria - Ideal Keyword Density, content has to be very informative and relevant to the topic, content should be unique and proof read. Writing SEO friendly content is important for the success of your online business. It’s almost about writing for two audiences:

  • Search Engines. Search engines crawl the internet analyzing content. Content that uses key words properly, and not over-using them, will get more attention and hence a higher ranking on that particular search engine.

  • Users. People generally only stay a few seconds on a website unless something catches their eye. Have content that draws people in and makes them wish to invest the time to read your website.

SEO content writing can refer to any place where content related to your online business is posted. Some places such as:

  • Web content or articles on your website
  • Blog posts
  • Press Releases
  • Conversational reviews
  • Forums and other social media postings
  • White papers
  • Sales & Marketing materials

There are a few standards in regards to SEO friendly content, some of which are:

  • Headings. Headings can point content right to the eye and attracts the attention of the reader.

  • Creative variations. Find different ways to say the same thing. This increases the chance of web searches showing your website prominently. Also creativity in a website is always appreciated by the users.

  • Title tag. Your page title tag should be the same words as your content title.

  • Proper use of bold face. Sometimes it is best to bold certain key phrases to make them jump out. This requires judicious use so as not to be annoying, yet still helpful.

  • Marketing focus. Since content on a website is generally, though not always, geared toward attracting sales of products or services offered by the website, sales-oriented content is helpful.

Then, there are things to watch out for while structuring your content pages:

  • Page titles. This is what shows up on the bar at the top of the user’s browser. It should be rich with keywords, yet also catchy to the human eye. Also, it should be no more than 70 characters.

  • Metadata description. The metadata description is what will show up on a search engine search. Anything longer than 160 characters will get cut off with an ellipsis (…). You will want to be concise and descriptive, yet enticing – so the user will see your description and click your link.

  • Metadata keywords/tags. This isn’t as important for SEO anymore, as many website owners were stuffing this section with keywords that didn’t really point to what their webpage was about. Still, it’s good to fill in this info, if only for the reason that it helps to organize how you wish to present your content.

  • Navigational keywords. If you have links to more information within your website, use link tags that are site keywords, just as you would request when link building.

  • External links. It’s also good to provide external links to associated websites. They may not necessarily be to competitors, but to associated knowledge from websites that have a higher ranking than you. This helps the search engine crawler to associate those sites with yours. If this is done carefully, it may even attract the attention of those sites you link to, especially if they are getting a number of click-throughs!
